Is that rubber
even legal?

The umpire's checklist

Being on the list is rule one. At the table, a legal rubber also needs: the ITTF logo and supplier name printed on the topsheet, one side black and the other an approved colour (red, green, blue, pink or violet), and a flat, undamaged surface. Boosters and speed glue are banned outright.
